Managing Director Fleet - Hapag-Lloyd / Chairwoman - VDR Social Committee

Driven by a curiosity about life at sea, Silke began her seafaring career in 2005 as an apprentice at Hapag-Lloyd. After numerous voyages and a period at university, she was promoted to Captain in 2018, enjoying her time sailing aboard one of the company’s training vessels where cadets gain their first hands-on experience.

In 2020, Silke transitioned ashore, taking on several Senior Director roles before being appointed Managing Director Fleet in April 2024. In this role, she and her team work to connect technical innovations with the expertise of our onboard crews, all in support of Hapag-Lloyd’s sustainability ambitions.
