Constantinos Vasiliou is the Consul General of the Republic of Cyprus in Hamburg, serving on secondment from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus since February 2026. An experienced maritime professional, he has built an accomplished career with the Cyprus Shipping Deputy Ministry, where he has held a wide range of technical and operational responsibilities spanning from ship inspections, ship registration, maritime security, to regulatory compliance and seafarer training and certification. Today, he combines his maritime expertise with diplomatic responsibilities, representing Cyprus
as a leading international shipping centre and strengthening maritime cooperation between Cyprus, Germany, and the wider international maritime community. Prior to the diplomatic appointment in Germany, Mr. Vasiliou has served as Counsellor of Maritime Affairs at the Cyprus Shipping Deputy Ministry’s Piraeus Maritime Office and later provided technical support to the Cyprus Ship Registry. He has also served as a qualified Port State Control Officer, a Duly Authorized Officer, and he is currently an active National Inspector on Security Matters for the European Commission and a Lead Auditor for ISM/ISPS and Recognized Organizations, bringing operational experience and regulatory expertise, to developments regarding shipping.
Mr. Vasiliou’s background in Engineering combined with the experience in maritime administration and diplomacy enables him to contribute valuable insights on maritime policy, shipping regulation, safety and security, and the evolving challenges that the global maritime industry faces.
